Another great way to explore the great Central Australian desert is from the back of a camel. Camels, ideally suited to the hot, dry climate of Australia's interior, were imported in the 19th century and remained the principal means of Outback transport until railways and roads were established. Today there are an estimated 200,000 one-humped, dromedary type camels in the wild. Only a few are still used by humans, mostly for touring the fascinating ecology of the desert.

You'll travel at a slow relaxed pace, accompanied by an expert guide pointing out wildlife and plant life, and regaling you with colorful anecdotes about life in this remarkable region. All this, with the most breathtaking view of Uluru as your backdrop.

Camel to Sunrise (2.5 hours):
A peaceful one hour camel ride through stunning sand dune country with the awe inspiring back drop of Uluru and Kata Tjuta. Take in the cool morning air and watch as the rising sun lights Uluru and surrounding plains. Skilled cameleers describe the flora and fauna. Enjoy billy tea and freshly baked beer bread after the ride.

Camel To Sunset (2.5 hours):
Travel for one hour on friendly camels in this spectacular desert, enjoy a close-up look at the desert environment and enjoy great views of Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. A refreshing glass of champagne or beer and bush snacks await you at the end of the trail.

Camel Express (1.5 hours):
Catch the Camel Train and enjoy a 45 minute ride on the good natured camels through the classic Central Australian desert landscape with views of Uluru and Kata Tjuta.
