An Experience of Baroque
Charlottenburg Palace, the magnificent summer residence of the Prussian kings, right from the beginning of its history was a center of artistic activities as well as enjoyment of art. With this new series of concerts performed at Charlottenburg Palace you have an opportunity to dive into the time of the baroque and to listen to highlights of baroque and classical Berlin music in an atmosphere adapted to that time. The members of the orchestra as well as the recipienty will be dressed in baroque costumes, the program performed under candlelight.
The Orchestra
The Berlin Residence Orchestra will have been exclusively gathered for this Charlottenburg Palace Series of Concerts. Its members will be professional and renowned musicians from Berlin with particular understanding and love for music of the late baroque and classical era, who are eager to help a modern audience to appreciate the music of this historical time.
The Program
The program comprises a number of musical peaks of the 17th and 18th centuries, ranging from the Olympic musical genius Johann Sebastian Bach to Queen Sophie Charlotte, after whom the palace was named and who was a gifted composer herself; from King Frederic the Great and his court musician Luigi Boccherini to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
Please Note:
At its New Year's concerts (December 29 - January 01), the Berlin Palace Orchestra will, under the direction of a conductor, perform music by W.A. Mozart and the Strauss family. All musicians will be dressed in tails for the occasion. |
