Established in 1980, Cairns Tropical Zoo is the largest and most diverse wildlife attraction in Tropical North Queensland and is set amidst six hectares of tropically landscaped gardens. Locally owned and operated, the zoo is home to hundreds of native and exotic species, many of which are indigenous to Queensland's northern wet tropics.
Cairns Tropical Zoo has broken the mould of traditional zoos by creating opportunities for you, the visitor, to interact with the animals. There are numerous opportunities during the day to get close, touch, feel and make some new animal friends. The zoo's philosophy is that personal interaction with animals encourages a greater understanding of native wildlife and promotes the need to preserve their natural habitats.

- 8:30am - Kangaroo feeding all day (AUD $1 per bag - to hand feed kangaroos)
- 8:45am - Lorikeet feeding in walk-through aviary
- 9:00am to 9:30am - Wildlife photo session featuring koalas or snakes*
- 9:15am - Endagered animals talk
- 9:45am - Snake show
- 10:15am - Free flight bird show
- 10:45am - Koala keeper talk
- 11:00am - Koala photo session*
- 11:30am - Crocodile show
- 1:00pm to 1:30pm - Wildlife photo session featuring koalas or snakes*
- 1:15pm - Endangered animals talk
- 1:45pm - Snake show
- 2:15pm - Koala keeper talk
- 2:30pm - Koala photo session* (Free wombat and crocodile photo opportunities)
- 3:00pm - Crocodile show
- 3:30pm - Free flight bird show
- 4:00pm - Lorikeet feeding
