Yakitori is one of the more well-known Japanese specialty foods here, possibly because it has a certain similarity to local satay. Beyond the superficial resemblance, however, quality yakitori requires quality products, from the imported charcoal to the free-range chickens... The service is quietly efficient and an exercise in good timing, with each order arriving hot off the grill only after diners have polished off their previous skewer. By definition, a yakitori restaurant's main ingredient is chicken but at Taka, there are also many complementary dishes available, such as soups, noodles and simple rice dishes. | | |
