Tucked away on the ground floor of a 2-storey longhouse that used to be a cinema in the 1950s, The Turquoise Room is not immediately visible from the road above save for their signage by the side of the road. The Turquoise Room exudes a rustic charm that reminds one of a quaint little restaurant in the outskirts of Greece yet the glass wine cellar, San Pellegrino bottles that adorn the dining tables, mellow bossa nova-cum-mood music pervading the atmosphere and the modern twist that is lent to the cuisine in terms of flavour and presentation belie a certain chi-chi-ness about it. The contrasting white & turquoise colour scheme, old fashioned wooden chairs, ceiling fans & uneven cement screed floor add a peasant-like simplicity to the decor, giving one a feel-good, back-to-basics feeling. | | |
